First ski day of the season!

The gang hit the slopes a little late this morning because the four of us had to rent skis and everyone needed to buy passes (there was barely any people there though so it actually took less time than expected). Around 10:00 am, we headed up to the top of Kittelfjal for our first run. We realized really quick that the ski hill is lacking a LOT of snow. There are only a couple of runs open, the other ones are just a sea of rocks and bush. Of course, we tried going down of few rocky ones anyway but our rental skis paid the price (it kind of looks like they have been skiing over a giant cheese grater)… Everyone is praying for snow, there is so much cool terrain here that would open up if we got a meter or so of powder.

I was asked to point out the little fire in the background. There a small fires everywhere here in Sweden, it adds to the cozy atmosphere:)
POV : Esme after going directly up to a snowmaker thinking it shoots out snow not water.

Apres ski involved some hot drinks at the Kittelfjal hotel, dinner, and Christmas crafts! I really wanted to get a Christmas tree for our chalet but our cabin host said no:( D.I.Y window decorations will have to do…

More cabin photos as promised!

Speaking of our cabin host… His name is Danne and he is an absolute legend. Practically the king of Kittelfjal some might say. The guy has done everything. Danne owned a heli ski and catski company here, he used to be the barman at the hotel, he was sponsored by K2 and now runs the hill restaurant and rents out these cabins. Oh ya and he sells these…

This is a camper van not a military vehicle. Danne lives in this thing and is a sales rep for the swedish company that makes them. We would have bought but there probably won’t be space in our luggage…

Happy swedish Christmas Eve! (swedish Christmas is on the 24th, can’t remember if I mentioned that yet)
