This marks the beginning of my exploration in marketing.
I have a basic understanding of marketing from my experience selling a few of my paintings but otherwise, no professional knowledge. Right now, I have no plans on taking any marketing courses as I want to keep my business fairly casual but I would consider it if I decide to expand later on. For now, some online research and advice from other business owners will suffice.
This week, I have been researching online resources that will help me gain recognition for my work. All the websites I have collected so far came from the best app ever, Pinterest.

- Art Maze Mag is an international magazine that allows amateur artists to submit their art for a chance to be featured in a monthly edition of the magazine. This is a great way to get feedback and recognition from professionals. Unfortunately I missed the deadline this month but I plan on submitting a piece sometime this year.
2. The Abundant Artist supplies artists with tons of free advice on how to improve their websites. When I have enough art to sell, I would like to create another website to display my art so that my clients have an easy way to view it all.
3. ARTSQUARE will be a particularly useful resource for me because it allows people to sell art on various platforms while managing the sales from one site. At the moment, I am only using my Instagram account ( nova_long_7) to display my art online but eventually, having more accounts (such as on Etsy, Facebook, etc.) would be ideal.

Hi Nova,
I saw some of your paintings on your instagram and they were awesome! That’s cool that your looking into way to do marketing for your work. To be completely honest, sometimes I forget about what goes on behind the scenes of businesses. I can’t wait to see what else you end up painting.

Your title is amazing Nova, I agree that Pinterest deserves a lot of recognition and praise. My free inquiry is art-based too so I’m excited to look into some of the resources you’ve introduced like Art Maze Mag. It would be awesome to submit some illustrations for feedback that I could implement into my future projects. One question I have is whether you do commissioned art pieces? I did some commissions over the summer and I definitely didn’t have a professional process for communicating with clients so if you have any tips let me know!

Wow that’s awesome! I have actually done a couple of commissioned pieces for family friends. I have had quite a few people express interest in getting me to do some commissioned pieces but most have not officially asked for them yet.
