Inquiry 7: Craft Fair Here We Come!

Exciting news!! Park Inquiry and I have been accepted to share a table at the UVic Artisan Fair on November 30th !! The rest of my Free Inquiry posts will be focused on getting ready for the craft fair… This week, I have been researching potential table displays. There is a lot to get ready in a short amount of time and the first step is to plan out everything we will need. Pinterest gave me lots of good ideas as usual.

Organization

I went to a craft fair this Saturday to get some inspiration for our table display… The table we will be provided with is only 5feet long so we will need to have an efficient table display that maximizes the space (without making it to crowded) . This is going to be challenging for me seeing as most of my work is quite large. As a compromise, I am considering making prints of a couple of my big paintings and bringing them instead of the originals. However, based on what I discovered in my second inquiry post, getting canvas paintings scanned and printed is pricy. I am going to get a quote and, if it turns out to be too expensive, I will just bring my smaller works to the craft fair instead.

In terms of displaying my canvas paintings, I am considering building a grid. I found a pin on Pinterest that uses an old screen door and some chicken wire. I might give that a try unless I can think of something that requires less time and effort. If the grid works out, I will be able to use it for more art fairs in the future.

On top of the grid (or possibly instead of it if I run out of time), I am thinking about buying some cheap painting holders on Amazon. Lots of vendors were using them at the craft fair I went to and I liked the look of them.

Park Inquiry and I are both planning on selling stickers so we will need some sort of basket or plate to display those as well… I have yet to find something that will work.

Beautification

We will need to come up with a way to showcase our business logos and a brief description of our work. I am thinking of having a picture frame with a short artist bio and my logo (which I still have to make) at the front of the table.

I found a tablecloth at my house that I am thinking about using.

And I bought a little plate for my business cards! 🙂

That’s it for now! Stay tuned for more updates!
